Ray Lambert's Photo Selection

I re-started aeromodelling in 1986, after the usual teenage attempts at control-line aerobatics on a tiny budget. Whilst passing Loch Insh in the late '80s I was most impressed by the goings on at the waterplane event that was in progress and promptly built some floats for my Hi-Boy trainer. The first flight (off Loch Morlich) is still vivid in my memory and my love affair with waterplanes had started.
1989 saw me moving into full size gliding at Feshiebridge and tugging as well in 2000. Following a permanent move to Aviemore in 2005, I was finding that the full-size flying was interfering so badly with my aeromodelling that I decided to stop it to concentrate on model building and flying. Anyway, I was being severely left behind in the rapidly advancing technology, terminology and model flying abilities of my fellow club members!
The modern breed of ARTF fliers, self-taught on model flight simulators, have taken a big leap forward in flying ability, a standard which I will never reach. Being an old dog, I shall continue as one of the traditional aeromodel builders in the club, content to potter about the sky the way aeromodels are really meant to.

AcroWot - it finished its days by flying away at Loch Insh in 2005, probably caused by the dreaded black wire corrosion. |
August 2005

Rara Avis being pursued. Eventually caught, depron cut straight through the rear fuselage-Rara Avis written off. |

I repaired Malcolm's Tiger Moth and then flew it for two months, including at waterplane events. |

The Tiggie flies beautifully and went very well off water too. |

Another Malcolm repair job - a WOT4, much more fun than the AcroWot. Plus my little EDF delta. |

The wee electric ducted fan - first electric and highly recommended. Wore out the first LiPo battery in less than two months! |

Dallachy Club fly-in. My visiting DH82a Tiger Moth drops in for another greaser. |

Took best part of 10 years to build and worth every minute. TERRIBLE instructions with kit. |
