Local flying rules

As the club is affiliated to the Scottish Aeromodellers Association, we adhere to the flying procedures recommended in the SAA "Safety Code and Achievement Scheme, Issue 5 April 2002". We use the peg-on / peg-off frequency control system. The pegboard is kept in the orange windsock barrel.

Note for visitors from abroad - we use the 35MHz band, which is exclusively reserved for radio controlled model aircraft in the UK.
In the UK, the 40MHz band is reserved for use by model cars and boats and so should NOT be used for aircraft.

You will have noticed that we are quite close to the public road. DO NOT FLY OVER THE ROAD

Club Safety Rules

The following local safety rules were passed by the committee on 10th April 2004 and supercede all previous versions :

  1. All S.A.A. Rules to be obeyed.
  2. All flyers to take note of site maps. Familiarise yourself with flying and no fly zones field layout.
  3. All active pilots to agree to flying type and flight pattern. Pilots to maintain communication and make your intention clear. Special attention should be paid to "take off", "landing" and "dead stick". Priority will be given to "dead stick", followed by "landing" when the strip will be cleared immediately. Active pilots may turn down a request to take off if they feel a conflict may occur.
  4. No taxiing towards yourself, others or the pits.
  5. Any aircraft not tried, tested and proved to be able to be accurately positioned in the recent past shall be treated as a new model and given a solo-flying slot.
  6. No smoking in the pits or flying area. All rubbish to be removed from the site.
  7. Visitors must provide proof of insurance and safety achievement standard. They must be accompanied by a member for at least one flight.
  8. Have fun with safety.
